Why The Village is Important

The Village was created from the insights gained through our Parent and Child group, with the goal of expanding our support to all new and expectant parents with care experience across Scotland. Research shows that over 500 babies are born each year to mothers with care experience, and we’re here to support them—along with fathers who share that experience.

Becoming a parent is a life-changing experience for everyone, and we want to walk alongside you on that journey. The Village is not just a resource; it’s a community built on the experiences of parents who have been there themselves.

We believe in the power of connection and the importance of a supportive, friendly environment. The Village is led by parents with care experience, ensuring that the support and advice you receive come from those who truly understand. We want you to feel a sense of belonging, knowing that you are part of a community where everyone is encouraged, respected, and supported.

At The Village, you have the freedom to choose what works best for you. Whether it’s accessing vital information, exploring resources, or connecting with our team through digital platforms, we’re here to help. Our peer mentoring programme also offers an opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences.

Parents with care experience have shared that they often face stigma and judgment when seeking support. That’s why we’ve worked together to create an environment where understanding, encouragement, and non-judgmental support are the foundation. The Village is a place where you can feel empowered, supported, and part of a compassionate, parent-led community.
