Video: Dylan's story - Care Review
Dylan left care when he was 18 and has lived alone ever since. He enjoys having his own place but has found it difficult to settle in. That was mostly because the flat he lives in isn’t very nice and doesn’t have all the things he needs. There was nothing to cook with. He’s tried to find out who can help and how he can move but no one has the information he needs. When he first moved in, he realised he didn’t know much about what seemed like really basic things like food shopping, paying bills or how to look after himself. It didn’t seem to be anyone’s job to help him with these things. He tried to get in touch with a staff member from the residential home he lived in but she doesn’t work there anymore and he can’t get hold of her. Since leaving care, Dylan has been thinking a lot about his childhood and everything that happened. He’s tried to talk to some friends about it but they didn’t really understand. He still sees his mum every now and then but doesn’t feel she’s the right person to talk to.
