Essential Documents: Passport Photo
(Read time: 1 minutes, 56 seconds)
I’m getting a passport – but how do I get a passport photo?
You need to provide two identical photos of yourself that meet all the Government guidelines. These tell you exactly what your photos should look like, and your application can be rejected if the photos do not meet the requirements.
Because the guidelines are very strict, we recommend using a photobooth for your pictures. Photobooths can often be found at your local large supermarket but you can also search for one here. The booth will cost a small amount of money, so check your local prices before you go.
You could try to take the photos yourself but it is very difficult to get the right size / lighting / background etc. so ask someone else to take it for you, and check the guidelines above first.
Digital or Physical Photo?
If you are applying for a passport online, you need digital passport photos. If you are using the paper form, you need physical (printed) passport photos. Both options will be given to you at a photobooth. If you choose to take the photos yourself we recommend applying online, otherwise you will need special paper for printing physical photos.
